As the princess of the Fred Olsen Cruise Line fleet, the Braemar is elegant and graceful in the water. Operating shorter, creative cruises to the Mediterranean, Canary Islands, Norwegian fjords, Baltic and Scandinavia the Braemar quickly encourages you to get into the holiday mode. There are great open-air and indoor spaces to enjoy, cascading sundecks and expansive Marquee deck around the swimming pool. Inside, the five-deck tall atrium creates a sense of spaciousness making it the focal point of the ship. Fred Olsen Cruise Lines invited Debbie Smith onboard the Braemar in August 2005.

I was struck by how small the Braemar looked as it was moored alongside a Celebrity liner, however, on boarding I was pleasantly surprised by the light and airy atmosphere of the ship.
Neptune Lounge
The Neptune Lounge which hosts the evening entertainment each night.
Cabins
The Braemar has over 400 cabins and we were shown all the cabin categories from deluxe suites to single occupancy cabins. I was surprised that even the lower deck cabins were more than adequate in size. There are plenty of spacious single cabins on each deck.
Restaurant
Lunch was taken in the Thistle restaurant, where a delicious buffet was provided. The Braemar also has an informal café decorated with murals.
Summary
I thought the Braemar was delightful. It combined style with modern décor and had plenty of space and yet an intimacy only found on a ship this size.
