Plans unveiled for Star Wars hotel at Walt Disney World

Bob Chapek, Chairman of Walt Disney Parks & Resorts, announced that a Star Wars-inspired resort will debut to accompany the new ‘Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge’ land being built at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, due to open in 2019.

According to Bob, this revolutionary new holiday experience will be a living adventure that allows guests to immerse themselves and experience a personalised storyline during their stay.

“It’s unlike anything that exists today.” Bob said. “From the second you arrive, you will become a part of a Star Wars story! You’ll immediately become a citizen of the galaxy and experience all that entails, including dressing up in the proper attire. Once you leave Earth, you will discover a starship alive with characters, stories, and adventures that unfold all around you. It is 100% immersive, and the story will touch every single minute of your day, and it will culminate in a unique journey for every person who visits.”

After reviewing the announcement presentation made at Disney’s D23 Expo this weekend, here’s what we know so far:

  • All of the employees at the hotel will be in costume and in character.
  • Each guest will have their own storyline, which Disney specifically says will “touch every single minute of your day”.
  • It’s meant to take place on a space ship, so all ‘windows’ will give a view of space.
